New strategic partners of Ukraine: India, China, Japan, Brazil

The way to the European Union, to NATO, relations with Russia – all these have become recently the most popular topics of discussions in the field of external relations in our country.

State leaders and Ukrainian political elite, between times of internal wars with each other, occasionally give reasons for their viewpoint either pro-Russian, anti-Russian or pro-European, anti-European and  anti-NATO interests of Ukraine.

In my opinion, we should pay attention to other directions in external policy, economic affairs and make a strategic approach to this theme.

If compare the growth of economy, innovations, investments, technologies in the countries of Europe and Russia on one hand with China, India, Japan and Brazil on the other hand – absolutely new picture of future world leaders appears. What the last-mentioned countries are doing for their incredible success must be very interesting for young state Ukraine.

If think of what is necessary for development strategy of Ukraine in external priorities – it is needed to switch the attention of Ukrainian society from old stamps as “Russia or Europe”, “NATO – anti-NATO” to the new approaches to the relations with future world leaders  .

There are countries which are interested in Ukraine, but it should be counties which Ukraine is interested in. We can see it from the rates of foreign direct investment. Germany, Cyprus, the Netherlands, Austria, Great Britain – are those countries who makes the biggest investments in Ukraine. By the way, Russia and the USA invest in Ukraine not so much. Who from these countries is interested in Ukrainian rapid development and having super modern technologies? Correct, no one. They need Ukraine as powerless, badly developed, safe, non-competitive state, which can be trade area on one hand and the country of cheap raw materials and labor on the other hand. I’m not talking now about the dump of old equipments and different wastes.  

Ukraine must be interested in interesting perspective countries. If we now starts to study experience and sets close contacts with China, India, Brazil, Japan we’ll catch the train of international development. By the way, the list is not limited with mentioned countries. From each country we can take what is necessary for Ukraine. For instance, from Japan – modern technologies, from India – techno parks development, from Brazil – agricultural technologies etc. It should be the elements of development strategy and the strategy of national priorities of Ukraine.

Like this, Ukraine invests to Cyprus, Cyprus invests to Ukraine. Money goes round in a circle.
